History

Derby City Gymnastics Club was established in 1998, the first sessions being held at various schools and leisure centres around Derby. Over the first 12 months the club had grown from just one session a week to many sessions being held five times a week. The numbers grew so fast that these sessions could not keep up with the demand and so in 2004 we opened our own fully equipped gymnastics centre and soon the membership grew to over 400 gymnasts.

The opportunity then came along to develop Lancaster Sports Centre into a purpose built gymnastics centre and so in January 2007 this site was re-opened. The increased space and better equipment has allowed the club to grow and also enabled the gymnasts to reach their full potential.
